It was a sunny day and I haven't ate anything since last night when I took a walk at Gading Walk area. I heard rumors among foodies that there is a burger stall which serve a tremendous burger, so I searched for it. And found it, it called as "OLAH Burger & Bar". The place itself is not quite big, consist of three spot (Outdoor, Indoor, and the Kitchen). The interior is a wood-stall themed and they were also celebrating the Indonesian 70th year of Independence so there were so many Indonesia's National Flag attributes.

There is also one small cute chalkboard in front of OLAH Burger, it was handwritten and I don't know why but I admire this little thing. It was cute though.

At a moment, I think would choose the outdoor seats because there were some people inside. But not long afterwards, they finished their lunch and left, so I managed to sit inside. The indoor seating is combined as one wooden table so we have to share our tables if there are a lot of people. The cool thing is that they're using AC and adjoin with the kitchen so we could watch the whole cooking process of our meal, pretty cool isn't it?

After dropping my bag, I began to choose the menu. As usual, I wanted to have something special so I choose "Double Patty Beef Burger + French Fries" which cost Rp.69.000,00. We could choose the done-ness of our patty and I choose Medium Well and asked the waiter to carefully cooked the bun so it won't get scorched. 

The burger itself is quite amazing, from the presentation to the taste. The beef patty was so juicy and perfectly seasoned, combined with fresh vegetables and mustard sauce. Recommended! The French Fries was also delicious, not too salty.

Overall, I really enjoyed the burger here. The portion is equal to the price and my satisfaction. I haven't tried the Egg, but I will try it on my next visit soon.

As a Javanese, I always craving for Indonesian Traditional food in my daily diet. Can you imagine in a big city like Jakarta, how hard it was to find such food as Nasi Pecel which has the original taste? Well, it's one of my lucky day!

Today, 23th August '15. I was driving around Beji area in Depok. Suddenly my mother told me that she wanted to have breakfast. So I open my eyes and started to look around. Mostly, food stalls in Beji started to open at 10 AM, but it was 8 AM when my mother ask for breakfast. Then I saw this big banner with "NASI PECEL" written on it.

By the time we reached, there were like 2 occupied tables. So we picked somewhere near the kitchen to ease us in ordering. Basically, they're not only selling Nasi Pecel but also another Indonesian traditional cuisine such as Bakso, Bandeng Presto, and Chicken. There were also the famous Tempe Mendoan. Yumm!

I personally choose their "Nasi Pecel + Bandeng Presto" which cost Rp.23.000,00. It was a lovely nasi pecel served above a banana leaf, fully covered by the peanut sauce. I love their peanut sauce, it was very fresh and tasty so as the vegetables used in the nasi pecel. I also love the Bandeng Presto, especially the portion, it was big! So worth the taste and the price.

And so as my mother, she loved it very much. She also ordered the same menu as I ordered. Because the Bandeng Presto was so nice.

My second interest is their "Tempe Mendoan" which cost Rp.8.000,00 for 3 pieces. This mendoan is "wet" type which I love and served with spicy soy sauce. It was not only a soy sauce because we can taste the "petis" inside. The tempe mendoan was very delicious and perfect to be eaten while hot.

For the drink, I choose a regular "Hot Tea" which cost Rp.4.000,00. The sweetness is perfect, and also I loved their level of bitterness for put the teabag a little bit longer. Hot and refreshing!

Overall, I really enjoyed the food. I hope that Nasi Pecel Mbak Ira could expand their outlets to Jakarta, I really wanted to have nasi pecel for my lunch without travelling around to Beji.

Pizza e Birra, merupakan tempat yang bisa dibilang cukup nyaman untuk bersantai kapan pun. Di Jakarta sendiri sepertinya cukup banyak outlet PEB yang tersebar seperti di Central Park, Setiabudi, Plaza Indonesia dan tempat lainnya. Namun, pada kali ini kita akan mengulas PEB yang ada di Central Park, Jakarta Barat. PEB disini bergabung dengan Kitchennette, dan dipisahkan dengan ruangan smoking indoor dan outdoor.

Salah satu fitur yang menarik pula, disini menyediakan permainan iDarts yang lumayan seru untuk dimainkan, selain bisa bermain Solo, bisa juga online melawan player lain dari seluruh dunia, wow!

Untuk tempat hangout, PEB termasuk enak banget. Pelayanannya cepat dan ramah, tapi kalau sudah mencapai jam-jam ramai seperti pulang kantor atau jam makan malam biasanya PEB sangat ramai. Karena PEB sendiri sering mengadakan promo untuk makanan dan minuman sepanjang minggu. How Cool is That?

Saya sendiri sering hangout disini buat ngikutin promo Seasonal Beer di hari Senin, dimana Bali Hai Draft hanya seharga Rp.10.000,00 sepanjang hari.

Kalau lagi hangout sama teman-teman pastinya butuh appetizer yang bisa di-share dong? Nah yang paling enak sih "Fish n Chips in a Stand". Selain banyak, enak juga lho.

Untuk makanannya, sebenarnya sangat banyak yang mesti dicoba, terutama pizza nya! Enak banget dan cocok buat di-share. Saya paling sering pesan Greek Style Calzone, karena isinya lumayan lengkap dan porsinya besar, dan mengandung zat favorit saya, "FETA CHEESE". Untuk rombongan, mungkin pesen ini aja udah cukup karena lumayan besar untuk dimakan.

Yang recommended selanjutnya adalah Delicioso Roasted Chicken, yang ini ayamnya enak banget, crispy kulitnya tapi dagingnya masih juicy. Disajikan dengan kentang dan lettuce, ada juga lemon untuk saucenya. Kalo doyan lemon, pasti nagih banget deh!

Dari pastanya, menurut saya sih kurang enak alias biasa saja, yang menarik hanya porsinya yang sedikit besar, yang menurut saya lumayan enak adalah Penne with Garlic Chicken dan Spaghetti Carbonara karena saya sendiri adalah penggemar creamy pasta.

Pizza e Birra juga punya bermacam-macam dessert yang enak, saya akhirnya mencoba Bread & Butter Pudding yang direkomendasikan oleh salah seorang waiter nya. Gak nyesel setelah nyobain dessert yang satu ini, enak banget!

Overall, hangout disini bisa berjam-jam apalagi kalau sudah ramai-ramai dengan teman-teman. Untuk yang anti-rokok, PEB juga menyediakan ruangan khusus (Indoor) yang non-smoking dekat dengan Kitchen Station. Disarankan sih kalau datang pada waktu promo, biasanya hari Senin-Jumat karena bisa dapat lebih dan pastinya bikin hangout makin asik.

Kedai Abnormal, Late Night Eats at Kelapa Gading

Late night eats around Kelapa Gading area? Well, I found one in the farthest of the Kelapa Gading Boulevard right next after the U-turn then about 500m on the left side. Kedai Abnormal usually open at night from 18.30 PM until 23.30 PM (During Ramadhan, open until 23.00 PM). They serve some of abnormal menus such as Roti Goreng, Abnormal Noodles, and jumbo size drinks.

“How is the place?”

Kedai Abnormal is basically a food stall with more less of 6 tables of outdoor seatings, but we might seat in the bigger food store behind it with several conditions apply. For a food stall, Kedai Abnormal is quite clean and spacy. The space between tables is maintained and several dining cutlery is prepared above the table.

“When did you go there?”

I was hunting for late night food with my brother at 19th June 2015, it was about 22.00 PM.

“How was the service?”

By the time I came, it was full of people. Actually, they’re not eating so I ask the waiter for an empty chair, then the waiter search then suddenly we got one. Well, great point for that! The cooking process is quite fast and we got our dishes in warm condition.

 “What did you order?”

Based on some reviews about Kedai Abnormal, I decided to order some of their best dishes, they are :

• Mie Goreng Abnormal Level 5 (12k/each)

What can I say about this spicy yet delicious noodle with scrambled egg and veggies? Abnormal! Served using small pan and completed with fried dumpling. We can choose the level of spiciness from level 3-5-10. I recommend level 3 for the beginner, because level 5 is already HOT, but delicious as well. Can you imagine the level 10?

• Roti Goreng Ovomaltine (19k)

Three stacks of cut-deep fried bread served with Ovomaltine. Came out as appetizer or dessert, the golden brown colour and the crunchiness is the best way to attract our eyes and we ate it all in under 5 minutes. It is delicious!

• Milo Abnormal (26k)

A jug of Milo and ice, it holds up enough Milo for 3 person. It was tasty and very refreshing, the sweetness is also perfect.

“So, The Conclusion is?”

Kedai Abnormal is awesome, it’s not an ordinary food stall just like it’s name. I love the way the create their signature menu and the service. I want to criticize about the seatings, because several customer was waiting for an empty chair, I think more seatings would be a great improvement.

Brunch at Union Deli

Even thought of the hippiest dessert spot in Jakarta? Well, this multi-branches spot should be called as Legend of the Red Velvet. Since the first spot opened in Plaza Senayan, Union has spread it wings to Pondok Indah Mall and recently opened the outlet in Grand Indonesia Shopping Town that focuses on desserts and cake shop, eventhough they also serve several main courses and drinks. It was a bit tricky to find, located inside Central Department Store in East Mall, here it is Union Deli!

“How is the place?”

Fancy! Still using the old theme which is suitable from brunch to dinner. A mix of retro american dinner with mellow lighting and suited waiters. In the wall, there are also full of pictures which are amusing and supporting the interior. Lots of seatings to choose for, but also be careful in dining time, you might need to save your spot by reservation.

Hippiest meets Friendliest? That’s true. I can’t say much more about my beloved restaurant which serves me delicious Red Velvet until now. Try and taste the hospitality yourself!

-  Red Velvet Pies (50k)
The main signature pie of Union Deli. Based on the top selling “Red Velvet Cake” which is booming on the previous Union outlets. The pie itself is quite small (the differences between the cake and the pie), crumblings all over the plate, yet it still kept the original cream taste, the sweetness and the old taste yet better and smoother. Must try!

·        -  Bailey’s Mud Pie (50k)

Round, Brown, surrounded by small drop of jam? Well, this one is the most favourite dessert if you want to avoid red velvet sweet and choose chocolatte-ish sweet. Bite by bites, you will see that the center part of the pie is so soft that make you want to lick it all over again.

·       -  Organic Tea By Damman – Earl Grey (30k)

A tasty tea, served by a tea pot, a cup, and what I like is that they are using block sugar which give a traditional taste of afternoon tea time. They also gave a free hot water refill when you run out of tea. Pretty amazing, right?

“So, The Conclusion is?”

Actually I was chasing the dessert only, because it is the main focus of Union Deli. The place itself is quite small, not as big as te older brother at Senayan. Considering of the number of visitor, I believe that if Union Deli is quite larger it can hold up to more people and serve better, Gotta catch up the other dishes such as the main courses later!

TOF Sicacilla

A new coffee spot located in Mall of Indonesia, a bit hard to find at my first visit. Actually, it is located in front of the 8th lobby. They have a wide selection of coffee, from hot to ice, black to latte and various dishes. The most favourited is the Pies and the Lattes.

“How is the place?”
It is quite big for a coffee shop and the are using black and white themed interior surrounded with warm lighting. Plenty of indoor seatings and a coffee station, the also provide the free wifi access to the customer, so we are comfy enought to sit for hours.

“When did you go there?”
I was having my latte and tarts in 24th April 2015, lunch time.

“How was the service?”
It was a nice coffee time and I found that the waiter and waitress are very polite, keeping the spot’s cleanliness and customer satisfaction. I asked the barista about the coffee, and he replied informatively and suggest some of the good coffee choices. Salute for that!

“What did you order?”
I ordered some of their most favourited menu, such as :

 •    Cafe Latte

A glass of local coffee mixed with steam milk by the barista. It was creamy and delicious, I also got a nastar in the plate. Great combination between a coffee and the snack.

•    Matcha Tart
The most delicious tarts in TOF Sicacilla, it was hot when it came to my table, not too sweet yet smooth in mouth.

•    Marshmallow Tart
This cute tarts with marshmallow on top, a little bit creamy but still delicious as well as the other pie.

“So, The Conclusion is?”
I like to spend my day here at TOF Sicacilla. Nice ambient and services, enjoyable atmosphere and dishes. What i want to suggest is that TOF Sicacilla should make big sign to show where the place is, because like I did, I had trouble in finding it. Well, I hope I can catch a cup of latte here at another time. Surely!
