(Oktoberfest Banner)

Paulaner Brauhaus finally announced their most-anticipated annual event which is known as "Oktoberfest". The event is being held at Paulaner Brauhaus Jakarta from 7-10 October 2015, Paulaner even brew special beer at their microbrewery to celebrate this event. Not only beer, Paulaner also provide various kind of Bavarian Style dishes and also invite X'elch'ten Band which came originally from Germany to play Bavarian folk music during the event.

(X'elch'ten Band)
I personally got invited by Lokalwise to join Oktoberfest 2015. I personally came at 6 PM to see the preparation for this Opening Night (which hasn't started until 8 PM) at take a seat at table 101, the table is quite nice because it is near to the stage and I'm very excited to sing along with the band even I didn't quite understand German language.

The Event

Oktoberfest finally came to live at 8 PM, the first event is by tapping the big barrel of special brewed beer for Oktoberfest 2015. The Host of the event also gave a few words about his excitement for this annual event of Paulaner.

(Oktoberfest Opening)
As I said, during the event, people are getting entertained by the Band which is very great and attractive. All of the members are singing along during the show. The Band also brought the longest blow-instrument which came from Bavaria and they're playing it to entertain people at Paulaner.

(X'elch'ten Band entertain the customer)
There are also Beer drinking competition which allow teams (consisted of 4-5 people) to drink up a liter of Oktoberfest beer as fast as they could. The record was 10.3 seconds which is done by the second team.

(Beer Drinking Competition)

The Food and Drinks

For Oktoberfest 2015, I got myself the full package of Free Flow Beer including Family Style Bavarian Dishes which is cost Rp.990.000,00. There are also some packages which is stated as Free Flow Beer only (without food) costs Rp.528.000,00. You can check their full listing of package here.

(On The Table 101)
(Oktoberfest 2015 Menu)
First of all, I was enjoying the Oktoberfest Bier. What makes it so special? Because it was only brewed by the brew master for this event, only for 2.000 liters. The beer is also contain higher alcohol level compared to other beer (5 %), but it has a lighter taste compared other Paulaner's beer, kind of sweet and pleasant taste. I personally had my first German Beer and it is now become my favorite beer. When it's tapped, you may see the rich foam above the beer, but the foam doesn't last very long so you have to drink it quick to enjoy the perfect mix between the beer itself and the foam.

(Oktoberfest Bier)

While enjoying my Beer, I also had my self an Original Pretzel Fresh from The Oven. The Pretzel was lovely and has a brownish color, it was also still warm. When you're eating it, you can feel the salty taste of pretzel. Very Lovely!

(Original Pretzel Fresh From The Oven)
Beside the Pretzel, there is one more of Paulaner's bread selection. It is called as German Bread Basket which consisted of Sourdough, Salt-Stick Roll, Dark Beer Bread, and Mini Pretzel served with a rustic butter.

(German Bread Basket)
For the Food, there are 3-course meal available for Oktoberfest 2015. Started with the lovely Paulaner "Brotzeit" Plate, continued by the main course of Oktoberfest Platter, and closed by the sweetness of Bavarian Creme & Emperor's Pancake with Apple Compote.

(Paulaner "Brotzeit" Plate)
Our Starter Set, the Paulaner "Brotzeit" Plate contains selection of smoked and cured hams, assorted homemade cold cuts, liver pate, Obatzda, lard, smoked chicken breast and cold roasted pork neck, emmenthal cheese, Gouda, pickles, radish and tomatoes. It is served with 3 condiments which is consisted of homemade potato salad, cucumber and tomato salad, and cabbage salad with caraway seeds.

Moving on to our Main Course, I ordered the Oktoberfest Platter which consist of Paulaner's famous Crispy Pork Knuckle, meat loaf, oven roasted chicken, chicken snitzel, and selection of Paulaner Sausages (Nuremberger, Debreziner, and Vienna). There are also Stuffed Pork Neck braised in Dark beer Sauce and Red Cabbage in other plate.

Customer can choose whether they want to choose Pork set or Non-Pork, me personally choose the non-pork. The difference is that I got the same platter but the pork dishes are removed leaving the exact same delicious Oktoberfest Platter.

(Oktoberfest Platter - Non Pork Set)
The Oktoberfest Platter is also served with Sauerkraut, Mashed Potatoes and French Fries. The Sauerkraut has a sour kind of taste (not my taste), but I like the mashed potatoes which is creamy and smooth.

(Mashed Potatoes)

(Sauerkraut)
It's time for dessert, now I got my Bavarian Creme and Emperor's pancake with apple compote ready. The Bavarian Creme is very nice, the taste is similar to Panna Cotta but better, it also has like a blueberry jam above which make it delicious. The Pancake was still warm, I love the consistency of the pancake, perfect sweetness.

Well, Oktoberfest 2015 was a blast! We got ourselves a Free Flow of Oktoberfest Bier and a pile of delicious Bavarian Platter. I thought that the price is worthy enough because you can't get this kind of Euphoria elsewhere, it is only at Paulaner Brauhaus. If you're a Beer lover or German Cuisine lover, take your time to visit Paulaner during their Oktoberfest. You won't regret it!

(My Third Glass, which is my last Bier for the night)
(Cheers!)
Before we go home, I would like to say "Thank You" to Ms. Silvia and Mr. Surya for a lovely chat and drinks at Oktoberfest 2015. I hope we can meet again in another event! Cheers!

The Best Ayam Penyet in Rawasari, Central Jakarta

(Ayam Penyet Rawasari)

Ever thought about finding the best and real ayam penyet in Jakarta? Well, I have one recommended place. It's my family's most favorite place due to the delicious taste of the Chicken itself and also the sambal penyet. As you can see, this place is only open at night.

The place is not too big, only a stall with extended tables without roof. The seat was so simple too using plastic materials. But you know what? Nevermind, we came here not to look after 5 star hotel experience, but 5 star traditional taste.

(Extended Seats)
My favorite dish here is "Ayam Penyet" which is pressed into the plate which is full of sambal, the meat was so tender and warm. Before fried, the chicken was dipped into flour a little bit so we could taste the crispiness in a bite. I really love the seasoning, especially the sambal.

(Ayam Penyet - Dada)
My second choice is "Lele Goreng Penyet", basically it is a catfish which also dipped into the flour then fried. After fried it was pressed into the sambal, so the spiciness will seep deeply into the meat. Yummy!

(Lele Goreng Penyet)
I like to eat them both at once, because one is never enough. Usually I asked for "Nasi Uduk" for my rice choice but sometimes they're run out of it and offered me original white rice. The cost of eating here is only Rp.12.000,00 - Rp.30.000,00. It depends on what you ordered. On my last visit, I only pay for Rp.16.000,00 for my set meal and Ice Tea. Wow!

(My Set Meal - Ayam Penyet & Lele Goreng Penyet)
In Rawasari itself, there are a lot of people who are selling ayam penyet. But remember, the original and the most delicious is located in front of "Anglo School" and below the "AD-P Marmer" sign. This place is open from 6.00 PM until 23.00 PM, be sure to have your seat before ordering and you can also order for takeaway if you wish for.

OLAH Burger & Bar in Gading Walk

(OLAH Burger & Bar)
It was a sunny day and I haven't ate anything since last night when I took a walk at Gading Walk area. I heard rumors among foodies that there is a burger stall which serve a tremendous burger, so I searched for it. And found it, it called as "OLAH Burger & Bar". The place itself is not quite big, consist of three spot (Outdoor, Indoor, and the Kitchen). The interior is a wood-stall themed and they were also celebrating the Indonesian 70th year of Independence so there were so many Indonesia's National Flag attributes.
(Promotion Stand)
There is also one small cute chalkboard in front of OLAH Burger, it was handwritten and I don't know why but I admire this little thing. It was cute though.

(Outdoor Seats and Ordering Station)
At a moment, I think would choose the outdoor seats because there were some people inside. But not long afterwards, they finished their lunch and left, so I managed to sit inside. The indoor seating is combined as one wooden table so we have to share our tables if there are a lot of people. The cool thing is that they're using AC and adjoin with the kitchen so we could watch the whole cooking process of our meal, pretty cool isn't it?
(Lamps, Clock, and Flag)

(The Kitchen)
After dropping my bag, I began to choose the menu. As usual, I wanted to have something special so I choose "Double Patty Beef Burger + French Fries" which cost Rp.69.000,00. We could choose the done-ness of our patty and I choose Medium Well and asked the waiter to carefully cooked the bun so it won't get scorched.

The burger itself is quite amazing, from the presentation to the taste. The beef patty was so juicy and perfectly seasoned, combined with fresh vegetables and mustard sauce. Recommended! The French Fries was also delicious, not too salty.

Overall, I really enjoyed the burger here. The portion is equal to the price and my satisfaction. I haven't tried the Egg, but I will try it on my next visit soon.

Nasi Pecel Mbak Ira (Khas Madiun) in Beji, Depok

(Nasi Pecel Mbak Ira in Beji, Depok)

As a Javanese, I always craving for Indonesian Traditional food in my daily diet. Can you imagine in a big city like Jakarta, how hard it was to find such food as Nasi Pecel which has the original taste? Well, it's one of my lucky day!

Today, 23th August '15. I was driving around Beji area in Depok. Suddenly my mother told me that she wanted to have breakfast. So I open my eyes and started to look around. Mostly, food stalls in Beji started to open at 10 AM, but it was 8 AM when my mother ask for breakfast. Then I saw this big banner with "NASI PECEL" written on it.

(Interior of Nasi Pecel Mbak Ira)

By the time we reached, there were like 2 occupied tables. So we picked somewhere near the kitchen to ease us in ordering. Basically, they're not only selling Nasi Pecel but also another Indonesian traditional cuisine such as Bakso, Bandeng Presto, and Chicken. There were also the famous Tempe Mendoan. Yumm!

I personally choose their "Nasi Pecel + Bandeng Presto" which cost Rp.23.000,00. It was a lovely nasi pecel served above a banana leaf, fully covered by the peanut sauce. I love their peanut sauce, it was very fresh and tasty so as the vegetables used in the nasi pecel. I also love the Bandeng Presto, especially the portion, it was big! So worth the taste and the price.

(Nasi Pecel & Bandeng Presto)

And so as my mother, she loved it very much. She also ordered the same menu as I ordered. Because the Bandeng Presto was so nice.

(Nasi Pecel & Bandeng Presto)

My second interest is their "Tempe Mendoan" which cost Rp.8.000,00 for 3 pieces. This mendoan is "wet" type which I love and served with spicy soy sauce. It was not only a soy sauce because we can taste the "petis" inside. The tempe mendoan was very delicious and perfect to be eaten while hot.

(Tempe Mendoan)

For the drink, I choose a regular "Hot Tea" which cost Rp.4.000,00. The sweetness is perfect, and also I loved their level of bitterness for put the teabag a little bit longer. Hot and refreshing!

(Hot Tea)

Overall, I really enjoyed the food. I hope that Nasi Pecel Mbak Ira could expand their outlets to Jakarta, I really wanted to have nasi pecel for my lunch without travelling around to Beji.
